September 13, 2008: Ebbetts Pass Scenic Celebration. National Scenic Byway, inviting the public to enjoy a number of activities while traveling the scenic byway. September 27, 2008: 'All About Lichens' Seminar Calaveras Big Trees SP, by Dr. Tom Hoffstra. Dr. Hoffstra will present his program on the under-appreciated lichens. 'All About Lichens' is an introduction to lichens, their ecological and ethno-botanical significance, and how to recognize some local species. Tom teaches a variety of short courses on plants at Columbia College. Seminar will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the Jack Night Hall, located near the Visitor's Center, in Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
